How does one go about getting a Tatau?

Payment for such matters can be made in traditional format, (e.g.) - fine Mats, food from the plantations, even live stock or whatever the family of the recipient may offer in accordance to what the Tafuga may want.

The other form of payment is by money, set out by the Tafuga. Don't be discouraged about the amount, some people have said to me they would never pay money to someone to carve ink into their body of that scale, I can understand their emotions and those same emotions are exactly why other cultures have died away.

The price at the end of the journey when completed becomes priceless to both the individual and family. It is more an investment in status, respect and honour towards their culture.
